Beverage company Red Bull GmhH, most well known for its energy drinks and flamboyant sporting event advertisements, unveiled the first bitcoin-powered Red Bull vending machine at the Hackers Congress Paralelní Polis 2016, held in Holešovice, a suburb of Prague.
The new machine dispenses Red Bull energy drinks for a payment of 2.3 mBTC (35 Czech Koruna). Users pay by holding up their smartphones against the payment terminal.
The Paralelní Polis conference was attended by industry heavyweights such as Andreas Antonopoulos and Manfred Karrer, developer of the first fully decentralized, bittorrent-style P2P digital currency exchange, Bitsquare.
